Finish
Catalyzed lacquer or Oil finish is available on all
our products. We strongly believe that the lacquer finish
is one of the most durable finishes available. This
finish will be water-resistant and will give numerous
years of protection. The oil finish is another popular
finish for furniture. This finish is more the natural
way of finishing, as it is hand applied to all pieces
of the furniture. This finish is easy to repair but
requires periodic re-oiling during the year.
Our most popular stain is the natural American Black
Cherry and Natural Red Oak. However, we do
stain our products and offer numerous color choices.
All the stains are produced by Sherwin Williams.
Finishing Process
- After several sanding operations, the piece is fine
sanded and any sharp edges softened.
- Stain is applied each piece using air assisted spray
gun and hand wiping.
- A sealer coat is applied to the piece.
- After the sealer coat adequately dries, light "scuff"
sanding prepares the surface for good adhesion.
- Catalyzed lacquer is applied using an air assisted
gun (an air assisted gun will enable the most
catalyzed lacquer deposited on the piece with
minimal over-spray.)
- After drying, each piece is buffed with hand held
air buffers and mineral oil. The buffer fills
the small pours in the wood surface and toughens
the surface.
- Each piece is wiped dry and reworked if necessary
for a uniform luster.
* Steps 4-7 are repeated to obtain a finish that is
soft to the touch, yet hard, and capable of withstanding
years of use.
How to Care for Your Furniture
Cleaning Tips: Food stains should be
removed with a very mild soap and water solution. Using
a clean soft cloth, wipe in the direction of the wood
grain. Dust with a light amount of polish on the cloth,
to prevent scratching of the finish.
Storage: Keep furniture out of direct
sunlight as much as possible and away from radiators
and heat ducts. Use padding on furniture under
items that are heavy, abrasive, or extreme temperatures.
Keep solvents and open flames away from wood furniture.
Avoid extreme humidity changes.
